Elain's Romantic/Science Fiction offerings -

  • Body Shop Veena was born yesterday, fully formed and desirable. A slave on Deimos, she's got to find her place in this avaricious society before she's consumed. Brin must choose between treating her fairly and nurturing her to independence or succumbing to lust and greed as the society demands.
  • Beachcomber Greg can see the world as it is - Jillian sees it as it should be. She was broken and discarded, he was hurt and abandoned, but together they change the world through fearless love and found family. Jillian's limitless passion draws Greg back into the world, to become the man he always should have been. Five volumes, a worthy binge-read.

And the popular cozy mystery series Mingo-Colfax Mystery!

MC lives among the streams and woods, an independent county agent responsible for all the natural resources in Jasper County.
People have been dying all over the place, and MC is always the first to find them. That bossy Detective Slaughter is called in from the City to take charge. He's clueless and can't begin to unravel the motives, actions and emotions in play in a rural town.  Together they can piece together the evidence, interpret the motives and bring closure to the community.

A Midwestern cozy mystery, kind of like if Louise Penny’s Three Pines was set in Iowa. It’s community-driven, with a detective and DNR agent unraveling quiet but meaningful crimes—things that feel tragic or accidental more than sensational. The stories follow the seasons—floods, prairie burns, harvests—and the local diner and small-town characters are just as important as the mystery itself. It’s understated, character-first, and rooted in place.

Extending the Mingo-Colfax Mystery! series, the third volume Fall from Grace is released! Join DNR agent MC and DCI Detective Slaughter as they untangle perplexing cases of death in rural Iowa.

In Flood Stage a body dangles from a tree in threatening floodwater. How do you do an identification when you can only see your victim through binoculars?

Plumb Dead has MC digging up a mummified body buried at a shooting range. With dozens of bullet holes and mysterious marks, cause of death is confusing and blurred by time.

Elaine Mature writes with the same spirit she lives by — asking no permission, accepting no categories. Her stories forgive their characters for being human, celebrate their small triumphs, and honor the courage to begin again.

Divorced from her former life and community, Elaine built a new one of her own design — rooted in kindness, empowerment, and belonging. In her world, everyone is welcome.

She lives in an old Midwestern house within walking distance of a diner, where the coffee is hot, the talk is local, and every story begins with someone saying, “You’ll never believe what happened…”

Nurturing feedback is solicited. Send Elaine a message and she'll reply! At elaine.mature@gmail.com

Snowbird nearing completion

Snowbird has been a struggle, balancing all the character arcs with the plot progression. It should be finished this month, if I can avoid injuring myself any further!Look for another installment of MC's life in Jasper County, while Detective Slaughter questions his goals and his future.

Coda

So I've written a coda, just a scene really, belonging in the saga of XRay Vision. It's Billie, all grown up and with a business of her own, tracing a Lost Girl for the Foundation. I'm not sure where to place it, how to release it, where it could fit.
